School of Information Sciences (SOIS), an industry driven state-of-the-art training institute of excellence in the field of VLSI, Embedded Systems and Medical Software of Manipal University was set up in the year 1998.
Since its inception, the Institute has been continuously striving for excellence in education, training and research with a mission of offering value based education. The institute is working in close association with industry giants like Synopsys Inc, Philips, GE Medical Systems, NXP Semiconductors, Whizchip, Cerner Corporation, Manipal Dot Net and a Consortium of other VLSI and Embedded Design Industries for its Post Graduate courses. The Base of Pyramid or BoP program is a joint effort by Philips and Manipal University to bring low-cost solutions to people at the grass root level. Philips and Manipal University, under the aegis of BoP have developed a number of such products and/or devices for rural areas.
