Establishing Multidisciplinary Innovation & Development Centre (MIDC) eco-system has its unique significance for Manipal University. MIDC will bring together various platforms with the help of industry partners and with educational institutes.

Opportunities

BoP Manipal has plans to engage 6 (SIX ) PG (postgraduate) students to carryout projects on - Exploring open source development platform for Medical Imaging at Medical Imaging Research Suite at KMC Manipal. The project involves specifications defined by the domain experts from Radio Diagnosis Dept., Nuclear Medicine Dept KMC Manipal and Life science research & developing Software solutions in open source plat form.

Skills sets required:

Mandatory: Basic course on Image processing

Preferable: Knowledge on Medical Imaging like CT , MRI etc.

Programming Skills: Any open source development language - C++ / Java /Python / OpenGL etc.,


Open source libraries:

Image processing library - Insight Tool kit (ITK)

Visualization - Visualization Tool kit (VTK)

GUI - QT / FLTK / KWWidgets

Core Java for Basic Image processing Java Advanced Imaging , Java3D API's for advanced imaging.

NVIDIA CUDA libraries and tools


Development platform can be:

Microsoft visual studio if C++ is used.

JCreator, Eclipse if Java is used.

Language tools are restricted to above as there are many more options available.

Candidates with Medical domain knowledge is preferred, however the project involves 70% programming & 30% domain knowledge. There is a possibility of providing stipend to selected candidates as per the BoP norms. The location of the project work: MIRS, KMC, Manipal.
